The best way I can explain it (as a non-native Italian! so if there are any Italian's reading this, please do correct me if I'm wrong) is that 'tavolo' is the noun, referring to the physical table, while 'tavola' refers to the table as a place of dining and being together...the feeling and experience of the table as opposed to the physical object
Going to one of Kate's retreats is a bucket list item for me (although not in my near future), and I would have loved going to one where you are co-presenting, so I hope this will become a regular thing!
